How to Keep Your Dancer Motivated Over the Summer
Keri SzachaczShare
Summer can be one of the hardest seasons for athletes.
Schedules change. Motivation dips. Burnout creeps in. And suddenly, staying focused feels harder than it did during competition season.
But motivation doesn’t have to mean constant pressure.
Sometimes the best thing athletes can do over the summer is reconnect with why they love performing in the first place.
That might mean:
• Setting small goals
• Trying a new style
• Taking extra classes for fun
• Resting without guilt
• Celebrating progress instead of perfection
Not every practice has to feel groundbreaking.
Not every day has to feel productive.
Growth often comes from consistency, not intensity.
And sometimes the athletes who grow the most over the summer are simply the ones who keep showing up — even quietly.
